Meer Taqi Meer
Ulti Ho Gayi Sab Tadbeerein Kuchh Na Dawa Ne Kaam Kiya
Dekha ! Is Beemaari-E-Dil Ne Aakhir Kaam Tammam Kiya
Ahad-E-Jawaani Ro Ro Kaata, Peeri Mein Li Aankhein Moond
Yaani Raat Bahut The Jaage, Subah Huyi Aaraam Kiya
Naahak Ham Majbooron Par Yeh Tohmat Hai Mukhtaari Ki
Chaahte Hain So Aap Kare Hain Hamko Abas Badnaam Kiya
Yaan Ke Sapaid-O-Siyaah Mein Hamko Dakhl Jo Hai So Itna Hai
Raat Ko Ro Ro Subah Kiya Ya Din Ko Jun Tun Shaam Kiya
‘Meer’ Ke Deen-O-Mazhab Ko Ab Poocho Kya Ho Un Ne To
Kashqaan Khaincha, Deher Mein Baitha, Kab Ka Tarq-Islaam Kiya

All my hopes - Mir Taqi Mir
tr. from Mir Taqi Mir's Urdu ghazal 'Ulti ho gayi sab tadbeerein' by Akhil Katyal
All my hopes are overthrown
no cure will work today,
see as I said, this peevish heart
has finally had its say.
When young, I was maddened so,
when old, I shut my eyes,
as one who has a sleepless night
when morning comes, he lies.
They wrongly accuse us of freedom
we who are helpless all,
it is they who do as they like
but on us their blame would fall.
Even in my wildest days,
listen, I had some piety still,
after Him I searched all my life
though at each stop I had my fill.
To this black-and-white of the world
I have only this to say -
I wish you knew how I lived through the night
and how I dusked the day.
Why ask now of Mir's faith,
why look for his belief - don't you know,
now he wears the mark, sits in temples,
he gave up Islam long ago.
In the last couplet, it should be "dair" which means temple and not "deher" which means world.

I perceive the world as a playground
Where dawn and dusk appear in eternal rounds
In His Universal form is a plaything the throne of Solomon
The miracles of the Messiah seem so ordinary in my eyes
Without name I cannot comprehend any form
Illusionary but is the identity of all objects
My anguish envelopes the entire desert
Silently flows the river in front of my floods
Ask not what separation has done to me
Just see your poise when I come in front of you
Truly you say that I am egotistical and proud
It is the reflection, O friend, in your limited mirror
To appreciate the style and charm of conversation
Just bring in the goblet and wine
Hatred manifests due to my envious mind
Thus I say, don't take his name in front of me
Faith stops me while temptations attract
Inspite of Kaaba behind and church ahead
I am the Lover, yet notorious is my charm
Thus Laila calls names to Majnu in front of me
"Dies" not one though the union is a delight
In premonition of the separation night
Alas, this be it, the bloody separation wave
How amazing... Wonderful efforts in spreading excellent poetry, music n sensibility. Thank you all contributors. I was just searching to sing this one...obviously Begum Akhtar's version.
